Rights and Privileges of Membership in the Capital Winter Curling Club
The CWC is a curling "family" which works together as an enthusiastic volunteer management team. Everyone benefits from the lasting friendships that develop. Members are encouraged to make new members and guest feel welcome, and to invite friends to come into the Club to socialize, watch curling matches or attend functions. Everyone is permitted to purchase refreshments at the bar and dining rooms. All members and shareholders have the right and are encouraged to attend meetings of the Club, and help keep it a vibrant organization.
The volunteer Board of Directors must approve all applications for membership, which include these types:
Honorary, Active, Intermediate, Junior, Associate and Life
Restrictions apply to some types of memberships, such as from voting, holding office or curling at certain times. Details are given below.
Honorary Members have all the rights and privileges, except voting.
Active Members Those who pay full membership fees have all rights and privileges. However, One Night Curlers and Day Curlers have restrictions on when they may curl.
One Night Curlers may curl only one selected day of the week, but may curl as many times as they wish on that day. They may also curl in "fun" (open) bonspiels. Super League curling would be considered their on night. One Night Curlers who curl on more than one day of the week will be informed that they must pay full membership fees. If One Night Curlers are prevented from curling on their selected night because of a "Bye" or cancellation, they may spare on one not cancelled. One Night Curlers may purchase competitor's Cards. Play in practice games will only be permitted on the day chosen as their day to curl.
Day Curlers are restricted from curling at night, except in "fun" (open) bonspiels. They may, on a rare occasion, spare at night, but only if no other replacement can be found.
Little Rock Curling Members have not reached the age of 12 by July 1st of the upcoming curling season. They have all the rights and privileges of the Club, except that they may not curl at night.
Junior Curling Members have not reached the age of 21 by July 1st of the upcoming curling season. They have all the rights and privileges of the Club, except that they may not curl at night unless they pay a higher fee as set out in the fee structure.
Associate Members have all the rights and privileges of the Club, except curling. This even includes voting and holding office. They may curl at "Fun" (open) bonspiels.
University Members have the same rights and privileges as Active Members
